Abstract
In the past few years, telework has started to take its place in Belgian companies. However, with the Covid-19 disease and government measures attempting to reduce its spread, the use of teleworking has increased considerably. This massive implementation of teleworking has therefore changed the work of many Belgian workers both in terms of its form and its content. Therefore, we aimed to determine whether teleworking in times of Covid had an effect on interpersonal relationships and communications in Belgian companies. The literature review of this work focuses on the areas in which our problem falls, namely, interpersonal relations, interpersonal communications, internal communication and information and communication technologies (ICT). Then, we looked for possible answers concerning the effects of teleworking or other ICTs in the world, in times of Covid as in general. This research allowed us to create a list of potential effects as well as 5 research hypotheses. The empirical study was carried out with the help of an online survey which identified 57 responses. These answers were changed into a database that we analyzed with the help of SPSS Statistics software in order to validate or invalidate our hypotheses. These hypotheses have all been validated and have allowed us to observe the effects of telework on interpersonal relations and communications in times of Covid as well as to demonstrate that the socio-demographic profile has no impact on the effects of telework in time of Covid. These analyzes also allowed us to observe the evolution of the use of the different means of oral and written communication related to telework in times of Covid. Finally, we highlighted the contributions that this survey could have for Belgian companies and established the limits of our study.
