Abstract
This dissertation has for subject the representation of some women in Apuleius' Metamorphoses, through the eyes of the narrators. The Metamorphoses of Apuleius offers a rich universe of characters and 21 women from this work were selected for this study. The results of this research highlighted the difference in treatment between the different female characters. Women living according to the amor are treated with respect and appreciation. The furiosa libido does not cause criticism as such, but the infidelities to the nuptial layer caused by it are treated with contempt. Finally, the furor is strongly criticized except in the case where it serves to avenge the death of a close being. The narrators also enjoy a great deal of power as regards the vision of women.
