- Considering artistic and pedagogical practice as a laboratory, and following feminist author bell hooks’ injunction not to remain “revolutionaries in abstraction”, this work invites us to circulate through history to observe how omnipresent graphic gestures are, marking out, accompanying and igniting insurrections. Social movements, often seemingly chaotic, are one of the main breeding grounds for culture. At a time when neither the state nor the institutions that govern us are defending us from the brutalities engendered by neocapitalism, this thesis is an invitation to consider anger as a mobilizing energy, a fuel for the production of powerful gestures of visual self-defense, to re-enchant our world.
