Abstract
The main objective of this thesis is to develop a clear understanding of the Living Lab concept in the light of the innovation landscape. In order to do so, the objective is to understand Living Lab’s position compared to the broad concepts of open innovation and user innovation, to propose a new definition based on the Living Lab’s nature and characteristics, to explore the mechanisms underlying the concept, to understand in which contexts Living Labs’ projects can be implemented, and finally to get an overview on the main actions that can be implemented to foster the success of Living Labs’ initiatives.
