Abstract
The aim of this thesis is to quantify the performance of the OS-SCD prototype created by Van Geersdaele Arthur and Sarafidis Thiriar Thalie. To achieve this, it was necessary to delve into the work from Van Geersdaele et al. to understand the context in which the open-source (OS) concept and sequential device (SCD) status are situated. A detailed analysis of the SCD through axiomatic design was conducted, providing a foundation for the next generation of OS-SCD. This serves as a starting point for future improvements. Indeed, it is possible to further dissect the OS-SCD to create a design that is less dependent on other design elements. Additionally, axiomatic design offers an overview of the effects of changes within the prototype. Next, the desired performance for the OS-SCD was studied through the characteristics of the pneumatic circuit and the efficacy threshold for the pressure applied to the limb. A test bench is created to quantify these data. The test bench calculates the pressure difference induced by the SCDs. These data are valuable for studying the performance of the OS-SCD and the existing SCD.
