- Abstract
- This research aims to analyze the role of women in corporate boards, with a particular focus on the contrasting positions of Belgium and Luxembourg. The implementation of quota legislation in Belgium has led to a higher representation of women on the boards compared to Luxembourg, which lacks such regulations. The effectiveness and expediency of quotas are evident, but it is imperative to introduce monitoring procedures to minimize potential adverse consequences. Despite the progress, women still encounter barriers, including traditional stereotypes, self-perception, and a lack of confidence. Legislation is crucial in addressing gender inequality, although society is changing, patriarchal influences persist.
