Abstract
Climate change has become one of the major challenges of the 21st century, with potentially devastating consequences for many sectors of the global economy. The insurance industry, in particular, is facing significant upheaval due to the increase in extreme weather events and environmental disruption associated with global warming. The aim of this thesis is to assess how the insurance sector is coping with climate change. To this end, this report will begin with a more theoretical section. This part will take stock of the impact of climate change on the insurance industry and present the actions taken by insurance companies to deal with the phenomenon. The second part will focus on a practical case study. An analysis of the Belgian insurance sector will be presented. This practical analysis will refer to the theoretical concepts seen in the first part.
