- Abstract
- This thesis explores the use of English and other languages such as French and Dutch in internal and external communication in recruitment and temping agencies in Belgium, and the potential factors that would lead to the use of English in this sector. The data collected for the external communication is made of the agencies' websites and social media posts (Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn). The data for internal communication was collected through an online questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The results suggest that English holds a prominent place within this sector, both in internal and external communication. Several factors were identified such as the necessity of testing the candidate's language proficiency, the recruitment/temping agencies clients' sector, etc. Regarding other languages, French and Dutch are widely used in this sector. By contrast, the presence of other languages such as German, Spanish or Russian is less significant.
