- Abstract
- Within the field of literature, the teenager is seen as a person to be educated within the field of literature since the emergence of children's literature during the 17th century. However, at the beginning of the 21st century, it became clear that the teenage audience had an interesting economic value. People then saw it as a great marketing opportunity and started using the fictional genres as a trend. These two strengths configure the current field. In order to study this dialectic, the subject we chose is death, a subject that doesn’t seem to match with the youth. We contextualize the field by studying first this dialectic, including in quantitative terms. The aim is for the books studied to be presented in their contexts, both economic and sociological, which could have an impact on the representations of death. We will end this work with an internal analysis of the representations of death through the most popular fictional genres of the 21st century.
