- Abstract
- This study aims to explore the factors that influence consumers to buy clothes on an e-commerce second-hand platform, with Vinted as a case study. The first part of this paper consists in an overview of the literature including the context of the fashion industry, the second-hand sector and e-commerce. Furthermore, influencing factors from the literature are revealed. Hypotheses are elaborated based on the literature review and the case study Vinted. Based on this, a quantitative research has been undertaken to test and analyse these hypotheses through an online questionnaire distributed to Belgian French speaking people. The research shows that the factors price, unique pieces, public ratings, instant messaging, forum, environmental attitude and brands influence consumers to buy second-hand clothes on Vinted. The study concludes with recommendations for Vinted and limits to this research.
