Abstract
English Medium Instruction, often known as EMI, refers to the use of the English language to teach academic subjects in countries where the first language is not English. EMI is an increasingly popular way for universities and higher education institutions to stand out from the competition and to attract students (native or foreign). Despite some drawbacks, the advantages of English Medium Instruction are numerous and make it easier to enter the world of work. Norway is a country that uses English as a second language, and therefore uses it extensively in its education. This Master dissertation will look at the use of EMI at the University of Oslo in Norway, and more specifically, how this university communicates about its EMI programmes. A variety of sources will be used in order to respond as accurately as possible to this question.
