- Abstract
- The castle of Walhain-Saint-Paul was built in the 12th century in the commune of Walhain (Walloon Brabant, Belgium). A multi-year excavation programme has been underway there since the late 1990s. This undertaking is managed by the "Centre de recherche d'archéologie nationale" (CRAN) of the UCLouvain. The archaeological material discovered during these various campaigns had never been analysed until now. The aim of this thesis is to carry out a ceramic study of the upper courtyard, following the synthesis of the archaeological remains produced in 2019. As such, all the furniture boxes have been opened, sorted and the selection of sherds studied in a catalogue. The chronological range of the lot extends from the 12th to the 20th century. Where appropriate, various production workshops are identified, such as Raeren for stoneware, Andenne for light-coloured terracotta, the Netherlands for earthenware and China for porcelain.
