Abstract
At the beginning of the year 2020, no one could have predicted that we would be hit by a global pandemic. The coronavirus turned our world upside down this year. Everyone has had to show agility during this crisis, especially employees from all sectors. How have companies communicated to their employees during these times of crisis? What are the topics that interest employees and that need to be communicated to overcome a crisis? How should corporate communication be organised during a crisis? These are all questions that we try to answer in this thesis. The first theoretical part of this thesis is focused on the study of internal and crisis communication, in order to answer the main question of this work. We then will concentrate on the study of a concrete example of internal crisis communication: the management of internal communication at the SNCB during the corona crisis. Before we enter into this analysis, we first give more context to the corona crisis. Therefore, in the second part, an overview of the corona crisis as well as of SNCB is given. Finally, we conclude this paper with a concrete analysis of the organisation of internal crisis communication at SNCB and by suggesting some possible improvements.
