- Abstract
- Vaccines are a crucial preventive measure to contain and possibly eradicate infectious diseases. Despite the availability of vaccines and the existence of immunization campaigns, a wrong perception of risks and benefits triggers vaccine hesitancy in a fraction of the population. This can drive vaccination coverage below the recommended thresholds to achieve the community immunity, causing resurgences of vaccine-preventable diseases. Exploiting behavioural insights, I propose two possible interventions to tackle vaccine hesitancy. I investigate what is the most effective way to provide vaccine-related information in order to realign risk perception with reality and favour an increase in the coverage rates.
