- Abstract
- Alcohol overconsumption is a worldwide problem impacting our whole society. Students are not spared. For them, impacts are life-long, leading us to focus on this sub-population. Through an in-depth behavioral economics analysis, our work reveals the motivations behind this overconsumption. From there, we explain how 24 cognitive biases and effects are - in addition to our social norms - responsible for the deterioration of life for thousands of UCLouvain students. Taking into account past policies and our analysis within the UCLouvain framework, we suggest a reduction of the standard size of beer glasses in order to tackle the issue. We furthermore develop two ways to properly evaluate our policy proposal. We end by discussing the viability of this change partly thanks to the collected opinion of UCLouvain authorities and students.
