Abstract
The present work is the result of the research carried out by the expert lawyer in Migration law Macarena Solís de Ovando Gómez, during the academic year 2019-2020, as part of the master's degree in Public International Law that she has taken at the Catholic University of Louvain. This work consisted of an analysis of the Global Compact for a Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM), raising the question of whether or not this Compact can contribute to the creation of a Human Right to Migrate. In this paper, you will find an exposition of the chronological development of the creation of the GCM and critical analysis, both of the negotiation and the content of the Compact. You can also learn about the ongoing dialogue between the development of International Migration Law and International Environmental Law. Finally, the author will indicate which are the keys of the historical and political context that must be understood to be able to prosecute the creation of the Human Right to Migrate and what is the weight that the GCM has in this discussion.
