Abstract
This work aims to study interculturality in the world of football. Seeking to analyse the usefulness and importance of football in the study and promotion of interculturality in Belgium, this work is divided into two parts. A first theoretical part explains the key concepts and brings together various theories (structure and agency, behavioural sociology) from different scientific disciplines to tackle the problem with an original approach. A second practical part gives concrete form to the ideas and hypotheses formulated, by making a lexical analysis of the answers to a survey of 30 amateur football players in Belgium. The other application consists in collecting and manipulating official statistics in order to analyse and understand the professional football context in Belgium. The final objective is to answer the following question: by what means can football in Belgium create situations favourable to interculturality? The results show that in Belgium, amateur football creates a culture and a structure, both of which favour interculturality. Culture changes beliefs and values by facilitating communication and social exchange between teammates. The structure changes the norms by fostering cooperation and emergence within the team.
