Abstract

This paper focuses on the relationship between urbanization and growth. In the first part, it researches on facts about urbanization, economic growth, education, and human capital by analyzing worldwide data and concludes that there is no causal link between economic growth and urbanization. In the second part, a literature review is used to explain the issues in the facts: (1) urban concentration is the cause of economic growth in urbanization process; (2) why urbanization itself cannot induce economic growth.
