Abstract
A continuously variable transmission has been developped by the Université catholique de Louvain, as part of the thesis of Christophe Everarts. A complete model of the transmission is design to study the behavior and the losses of the mechanism. It is then scaled and included in an eletric car powertrain. The goal is to reduce the energy consumption of the car. For that purpose, the gear ratio of the CVT is optimized along a drive cycle.
