Abstract
The thesis pertains to understand how conflict avoidance within the boardroom could affect, whether positively or negatively, the decision-making process. The underlying idea assumes that boardroom should be a place where board members express their different opinions and reach a decision, which will be enriched by the diversity of opinions. However, the reality is not always as easy, and observations show on the contrary that some board members tend to avoid cognitive conflicts. We also discussed the impact of avoiding affective conflicts within the boardroom. Conflict avoidance is studied through a qualitative analysis of factors, related to board composition and board interactions. We try to understand, whether a link can be made between these factors and conflict avoidance.
