- Abstract
- Superomniphobic surfaces are at the heart of studies of last decades. The interest of design of these kind of surfaces is growing for applications as textile to perform more repellent surfaces to water or low surface density organic compounds. The use of C8 fluorinated polymers was reported as a solution for textile coating combining both water and oil repellency of the surfaces. The interdiction of the use of C8 long chain fluorinated polymers for environmental reasons provoked an investigation of new eco-friendly materials capable to ensure superomniphobic behavior of coatings for textile applications. In this work, the repellent properties and morphology of coatings based on short chains C4 fluorinated polymer and silica particles were investigated. A simple spray coating method using an airbrush was developed for the preparation of water and oil repellent coatings on PES tissue fabrics with a control of the area density of the coating.
