Abstract
Nowadays, the construction stakeholders have an increasing interest in the effective transmission of information to the client once the building construction is over and is ready to be operated. In this research study, there will be an introductory explanation about the Building Information Modeling (BIM) process and the reasons why it should be considered as an appropriate solution to provide an effective transmission of information. This subject is often called “BIM for FM” by different stakeholders. Indeed, all services related to the different use of buildings and its resources are called “Facility Management” (FM). As “BIM for FM” is an innovative and very broad subject, this research focus on which information, classified according to different levels must be transmitted to the facility managers so that they may perform an effective operation and maintenance for buildings. Several countries, including Belgium, are trying to classify all this information, which generates a real market demand regarding this topic. Many stakeholders were met to ensure that the results of this research study meet their needs. Therefore, this thesis proposes a classified database that will allow the construction industry to progress in "BIM for FM".
