- Abstract
- In the straits of Malacca and Singapore (SOMS), the threat of maritime piracy undermines the safety and cost-efficiency of maritime transit. To this day, most countermeasures have focused on international relations and military deployment, whereas agent-based simulation models have received little attention. This thesis aims at assessing the effectiveness of various countermeasures to sea piracy in the SOMS based on simulation results from an agent-based model developed on the occasion of this study, using an existing simulation platform.
