Abstract
The Trojan War is a very well known event from Greco-Roman mythology. From the initial state of the Homer’s Iliad and Odyssey, the story took different forms depending on the times and contexts. In the Byzantine period, some scholars were still largely interested in this story, which underwent modifications again. In this thesis, we will see how Jean Malalas, author of the oldest Byzantine chronicle that we have preserved, wrote his own version of the Trojan War, adapting it to the Christian context of the 6th century. By analyzing the words of the chronicler, we will also try to understand his opinion of classical Greco-Roman culture.
