- Abstract
- The purpose of this work is to analyse the current and future state of museum mediation tailored for special education students. Since the so-called Pacte pour un Enseignement d'excellence encourages cultural education and more frequent school trips to museums, the following questions arose and are addressed in this paper. What are the resources available for special education learners? How is the museum mediation tailored for students with disabilities and what museum education modalities are interesting for this audience? To be able to answer these questions, we will begin by an introduction of the two main subjects of this dissertation: special education as such and museum education in art museums. These topics will then be analysed jointly to be able to highlight two museum mediation modalities that are relevant to the young audience with disabilities. Finally, we will elaborate two mediation projects created as part of this dissertation. The proposed projects aim to fill the gap within the museum education as far as young people with disabilities are concerned. The last chapter will be dedicated to the description and critical analysis of the two mentioned above mediation projects created as part of this dissertation.
