- Abstract
- The consumption of gas and electricity by households in Belgium is an important part of the total consumption which is not continuously monitored (annual metering only). It therefore has to be expressed by detailed models to allow accurate information for capacity planning and for the monthly settlement process. It is in the interest of the energy sector to continuously monitor and improve these models. This masters thesis explored the use of spline based models in order to obtain a deeper understanding of the annual cycle of the dependency of the household consumption on temperature and how this cycle evolved over the past 11 years. The resulting models are displayed in a shiny dashboard.
