Abstract

ES : ¿Cómo las mujeres logran forjarse un espacio de emancipación en contextos culturales y sociales diferentes en la novela Cauterio? _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Mi tesina organizada en tres capítulos examina diversos aspectos de la novela Cauterio de Lucía Lijtmaer. En primer lugar, se ofrece una presentación estructural detallada de la obra. A continuación, se analiza el impacto de las transformaciones urbanísticas en la identidad y experiencia de los personajes, explorando cómo estas transformaciones se relacionan con la hipótesis central de la tesina. Finalmente, se abordan los espacios en conflicto, con un enfoque particular en cómo las mujeres enfrentan y desafían las estructuras patriarcales de su época. El primer capítulo detalla la estructura de la novela, que presenta dos historias paralelas : una mujer treintañera en España en 2014 y Deborah Moody en el siglo XVII en las colonias americanas. Los capítulos alternan entre estas historias, usando números arábigos para la primera y números romanos para la segunda. La obra se caracteriza por su estructura no lineal, que permite una exploración profunda de distintas etapas de la vida de los personajes. Además, se contextualiza históricamente la treintañera en el contexto de la crisis económica, y Deborah Moody en la agitación religiosa y política del siglo XVII. El segundo capítulo examina el impacto de los cambios urbanísticos con un análisis descriptivo y estadístico centrado principalmente en los entornos de Barcelona y Madrid, así como en Inglaterra y América. El análisis destaca como la urbanización en cambio influye en las experiencias y estados emocionales de los personajes y de los habitantes. Finalmente, el tercer y último capítulo destaca la lucha de las mujeres contra las estructuras patriarcales, comparando las experiencias de la treintañera con las de Deborah Moody. Se analizó como la novela trata temas de control sobre el cuerpo y la autonomía personal, la violencia conyugal y las dinámicas de poder, así como la importancia de la solidaridad femenina para el empoderamiento y la emancipación económica. EN : How do women manage to build a space for emancipation in different cultural and social contexts in the novel Cauterio? _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ My thesis organized in three chapters examines various aspects of the novel Cauterio written by Lucía Lijtmaer. First, a detailed structural presentation of the novel is offered. Next, I analyze the impact of urban transformations on the identity and experience of the characters, exploring how these transformations relate to the central hypothesis. Finally, conflict spaces are addressed, with a particular focus on how women face and challenge the patriarchal structures of their time. The first chapter details the structure of the novel, which presents two parallel stories : a thirty-year-old woman in Spain in 2014 and Deborah Moody in the seventeenth century in the American colonies. Chapters alternate between these stories, using Arabic numerals for the first and Roman numerals for the second. Furthermore, the work is characterized by its nonlinear structure, which allows a deep exploration of different stages of the characters' lives. In addition, the Spanish woman is historically contextualized in the context of the economic crisis, and Deborah Moody in the religious and political turmoil of the seventeenth century. The second chapter examines the impact of urban changes, with a descriptive and statistical analysis focusing mainly on the surroundings of Barcelona and Madrid, as well as in England and America. The analysis highlights how changing urbanization influences the experiences and emotional states of the characters and inhabitants. Finally, the third and final chapter highlights the struggle of women against patriarchal structures, comparing the experiences of the contemporary protagonist with those of Deborah Moody in the colonial America of the seventeenth century. It analyzes how the novel deals with issues of control over the body and personal autonomy, spousal violence and power dynamics, as well as the importance of female solidarity for empowerment and economic emancipation.
