Abstract
Imaging techniques are used since several years to measure river discharge. They are beneficial because they are fast, easy to use and low cost. Moreover, they are more adapted to discharge measurements in case of floods and drought. This is not the case with invasive methods, which always need a contact with water. In this context, an application was developed in a previous master thesis. It allows to obtain river discharge from a video and bathymetry. Unlike some existing software’s, this application takes in charge the whole process until final result obtention. The aim of our work was to validate this application, to check its working, the obtained results and to identify its limits. Then, we performed a set of tests on a serie of videos, allowing us to detect several functioning mistakes. This leads us to bring necessary corrections and improvements. Finally, a validation step was carried out to demonstrate result stability and precision after corrections. This phase allows to determine the influence of each step of the application in the final result. Now that each application step was checked, it would be interesting to develop new methods in future works to make application more completed and competitive and to make it open-source reachable.
