- Abstract
- In this document, we study the reciprocal structures in 3D, which function with their beams carrying on each other. This structural frame makes it possible to cross spans greater than the dimensions of the elements that compose it. With this principle, structures with raw wooden trunks could be built, exceeding their mechanical capacities considered separately. However, there are still many uncertainties regarding the numerical modeling. Thus, this work aims to understand how to create a numerical calculation model with accuracy. To do this, we decided to build a steel structure with a 4m span. We started by drawing it with Grasshopper. A bolted assembly has been developed, allowing a ball joint at the connections. The structure was then built in the laboratory according to the drawing model. It was loaded and displacements were measured. Finally, these experimental results were compared with the results from the finite element calculation.
