- Abstract
- The subject of this thesis is the stability of the railway in long welded rails (LRS) under the action of thermal stresses. This end-of-study project is carried out in collaboration with Infrabel, the Belgian railway infrastructure management company. Infrabel wants to explore the possibility of removing expansion devices from the rail network. The purpose of this paper is primarily to understand how misaligned LRS behave when subjected to temperature variations. What are the constraints that appear within the rail and how is it distorted? Then, in addition to the misalignment, it is necessary to determine if several track devices placed one after the other can withstand temperature increases. The methodology used in this thesis is to first study time the existing analytical solutions and then to develop a digital tool.
