- Abstract
- Climate change raises new challenges, and the construction sector needs to adapt to face them. One way to adapt is to develop new construction materials with a lower carbon footprint while offering better recycling possibilities. It is in this context that SPALCO, an acronym derived from its composition "Sand, Paper, Lime Composite", was developed. The objective of SPALCO is to minimise its environmental impact while providing interesting mechanical and insulating properties. The objective of this master thesis is to understand how the components of this material influence its mechanical behaviour and its acoustic and thermal insulation properties. Various experiments were carried out in order to characterise the performance of SPALCO and to find a suitable application for it. These analyses not only lead to a definition of an ideal composition, but beyond that, thanks to a numerical model, allow to orient future research.
