- Abstract
- Starting from the disconcerting and atypical nature of Villiers de l'Isle-Adam's novel "L'Ève future", this master thesis offers a contemporary reading of the “andréide” Hadaly’s enigma. The problematic is addressed from the perspective of the “artificial becoming-human” staged by Villiers and refers to several current artistic and scientific discourses: the short story "Circuits" by R. Larson, the "Westworld" series, identification in the context of psychoanalysis and the transhumanist discourse. This finally leads to an intermedial analysis of " L’Ève future ". Our conclusion sets out the aesthetic principle of the novel and the profoundly topical nature of the questioning of human condition that results from it, as well as some lessons that can be drawn regarding the interpretation of a literary work.
