Abstract
Digital is more and more present in today's world, so it is important for youth education to take it into account. However, in Wallonia (Belgium), young people finishing compulsory education generally do not have any digital training, except perhaps the use of a computer and office software. This is changing with the educational reform that will be applied in the coming years. We have developed two course sequences to introduce young people at the end of primary school to algorithmic and programming. One of these sequences deals with robotics and was tested in a 5th grade class. This allowed to highlight some unexpected difficulties encountered by the children, to think about the origin of these and to rework the activities accordingly. The second sequence, which could not be tested with the children, draws a parallel between the algorithms and recipes.
