As a founding member of the European Community, Italy has played a fundamental role in the building of European integration and was therefore one of the actors traditionally more convinced of the potential of the European project, as an economic, political and security project. This thesis, therefore, intends to analyse the Italian role and participation in the evolution of European defence and in the Common Security and Defence Policy framework. More precisely, the current work will analyse the political institutional background of the country, the national commitments, and engagements in international organizations in the security dimension and the participation of the country in the international missions for security, which tend to be of military nature and are conducted mostly through NATO, and its participation in the missions and operations of the Union, within the Common Security and Defence Policy framework, which tends to be mostly of civilian nature. finally, there will also be an examination on the economic aspect of the security and defence dimension by providing a comprehensive overview of the Italian military expenditure.ItalyCSDPE.U.THE COMMON SECURITY AND DEFENCE POLICY AND ITALY’S PARTICIPATIONtext::thesis::master thesisthesis:29962
