Our hypothesis was that individuals with recent PFP (< 6 months) would have lower hip abductors strength and endurance in comparison with individuals with long-term PFP (> 24 months). Design: cross-sectional study Methods: Isometric strength, isometric endurance and dynamic endurance of the hip abductor were assessed in a population of 32 females subjects aged between 18 and 45 years with recent (<6 months) and long-term (>24 months) PFP. After a general assessment of sociodemographic data, experimentation began with the viewing of an explanatory video showing the different tests and with a five-minute warm-up on a cycloergometer. The three experimental tests were performed in the same order, first, the isometric strength test, then, the isometric endurance test and finally, the dynamic endurance test. All tests were separated by two minutes of rest. Results: Both groups differ in term of weight and symptoms duration. The participants with recent PFP demonstrated a higher level of “worst pain”. There were no significant differences in hip abductor isometric strength, isometric endurance and dynamic endurance between groups. Conclusion: The aim of this study was to assess and quantify the development of characteristic muscle deficits in PFP subjects over time and to compare and observe the influence of these deficits on the duration of symptoms. Our results do not provide significant evidence of hip abductor muscle deficits in PFP but support the idea that these appear within the first few months after the onset of symptoms.hip abductorpatellofemoral painfemalesstrengthendurancekneePFPHip abductors strength and endurance in individuals with recent and long-standing patellofemoral paintext::thesis::master thesisthesis:28832
