Abstract
This master’s thesis discusses two episodes of the BBC’s series "Doctor Who", namely the first episode of season four and the fourth episode of season seven, "Partners in Crime" and "The Power of Three". It is essentially a comparison between the subtitles that I have personally made of the latter and the original subtitling that can be found on the DVD’s. To compare those two different translations of the same audiovisual documents, I rely on scientific papers to explain my translation choices as well as to comment the subtitles of origin. In my analysis, I keep distinguishing three translation challenges that can be found in those episodes, but also in the translation field in general. Those three are humour and wordplay, science fiction nouns, and, finally, cultural references.
