Abstract
Based on underlying theories of L2 reading comprehension involving dyslexia, and in the light of new technological tools offering read-aloud assistance and user-friendly presentation modes, this thesis focuses on the beneficial impact of Text-To-Speech (TTS) and Dys Vocal tools on the reading comprehension of L2 English learners with dyslexia. This study also compares existing TTS tools according to a criteria selection, establishing a list of the five best TTS tools. The results show that TTS and Dys Vocal tools are complementary and that the interaction between their visual and non-visual features is very beneficial for the target group. The five best TTS tools were identified as 1) Capti Voice, 2) Natural Reader, 3) Speechify, 4) Dys Vocal and 5) Newscaster Vocalizer.
