- Abstract
- Cloud gaming is a new paradigm on the video game scene. The game is no longer running on the user’s hardware but everything is rendered in the cloud. This new way of playing video games took a step forward in 2019 as major IT companies released their own cloud gaming platforms. However, they did not disclose their used protocols and techniques. In order to work properly, it requires a low latency and a large bandwidth. By analyzing hours of recorded network trace of both Stadia from Google and Geforce Now from Nvidia, this document aims at understanding the mechanism hidden behind this new technology. We have also submitted these platforms to various perturbations to understand their reaction when running on a sub-optimal network.
