- Abstract
- In 2016 the UK decided to leave the European Union, which had important economic consequences on all sectors. The European Dairy cooperatives were confronted mainly with three problems: the impact on trade costs, the impact on check times and port charges and the labour market. The UK and the EU also had to negotiate a Brexit deal. From June 2016 to the January 2021 the companies were confronted with the falling value of Pound Sterling. Furthermore, these organizations also used strategies to oppose these risks, like stockpiling ingredients, lobbying, etc. Next to these strategies, the media (annual reports, new articles, etc) reported their reactions. I focused on these European dairy companies : Dairygold, Ornua, Glanbia, Müller, FrieslandCampina and Arla Foods.
