- Abstract
- The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), launched in 2013 by Xi Jinping, generates mixed opinions. The ambition of the BRI is to connect Asia, Africa, and Europe via a land and maritime network. It aims to enhance cooperation through improved infrastructure, trade, and investment links. In Greece, COSCO's acquisition of the Port of Piraeus is one of the BRI's flagship projects. In my thesis, I answer the research question: “How to measure the impact of the Belt and Road Initiative on the Greek economy? Study of indicators”. I will determine whether the BRI has a significant impact on the selected indicators. In this study, it is also important to consider that evolutions in the indicators may be influenced by external factors. This thesis includes a literature review, an analysis of pertinent indicators, a discussion, and the limitations of the research.
