- Abstract
- Green Hydrogen plays a critical role in decarbonizing several industries and combating global warming. However, it is necessary for green hydrogen to be cost-competitive against polluting forms of hydrogen. This thesis explores a cost optimization method: battery-assisted hydrogen production. More specifically, it focuses on innovative Hydrogen Bromine Flow Batteries that could show more results than their Lithium counterpart, which have so far mitigated outcomes. The goal of this thesis is then to present the potential Hydrogen Bromine Flow Batteries in Battery-Assisted Green Hydrogen production. The study based itself on a Python model that simulates battery-assisted hydrogen production. The results show that the benefits brought by the battery are significant but do not compensate for its additional costs. Hydrogen Bromine Flow Batteries represent thus not a cost optimization method unless further model or technological development.
