- Abstract
- The textile and clothing industry is currently recognized as the second most polluting industry in the world. Indeed, the globalized model on which it is based creates negative pressure on the environment and society. This thesis, therefore, aims to contribute to the thinking and theory behind the relocation of the textile and clothing industries and to understand whether a new demand-driven approach to production can mitigate these negative environmental and social impacts. It will especially explore the Belgian sector and discover, through interviews with textile and clothing practitioners, that reshoring is hampered by several factors.
