Abstract
Burnout is a significant occupational phenomenon, and it has emerged over the past few decades, affecting not only professionals but also students and parents. This psychological issue manifests in various ways, making it necessary to discuss and address it to prevent its occurrence. Mass communication channels, such as television, social media, and newspapers, play a vital role in normalizing conversations around burnout. This thesis will examine the frequency of the term "burnout" in four Belgian newspapers: De Standaard, Het Laatste Nieuws, Sudinfo, and Le Soir. These newspapers were specifically chosen to provide insight into how the term is used across both broadsheets and tabloids. By comparing the use of the term "burn-out" in these different journalistic contexts, we aim to shed light on how media representation varies according to newspaper type. This could provide insights into public perception and awareness of burnout.
