- Abstract
- The thesis explores Eve, a powerful graphic novel by British author Una, set in a near-future England facing environmental collapse and political turmoil. Through disturbing visuals and strong storytelling, Eve shows the emotional and psychological impact of these crises. The thesis highlights how Una uses creative techniques, like diary entries and radio broadcasts, along with striking illustrations, to bring the dystopian setting to life and evoke a range of eco-emotions. Drawing from her own fears for her children's future, Una tells a story that resonates with today’s environmental concerns. The thesis argues that Eve stands out for making complex ecological issues both understandable and emotionally impactful, urging readers to think about the urgent need for change. Overall, Eve is presented as an important and thought-provoking work in modern environmental literature, using its compelling visual narrative to emphasize the critical urgency of the climate crisis and its psychological impact.
