Abstract
This thesis compares the websites visitflanders.com and visitwallonia.be. The former aims to attract international visitors by promoting Flanders as a tourist destination, while the latter focuses on promoting Wallonia to both national and international audiences. The thesis is divided into two practical parts. In the first part, we examine the effectiveness of the home pages of these websites and identify their strengths and weaknesses. The second part sheds light on the intercultural aspect of the websites, where we examine the extent to which they take interculturalism into account. Here, we analyse in particular the structure, images and suggestions presented. Our analysis focuses specifically on the cities of Antwerp and Ghent on visitflanders.com and the cities of Namur and Liège on visitwallonia.be. Moreover, we analyse the content available in Dutch, French, German and English. To better structure our approach, we rely on the theoretical framework of researchers such as Fernández-Cavia, Rovira, Díaz-Luque and Cavaller. In the first part of the analysis, we use their Web Quality Index. Moreover, we adopt Viallon and Henneke-Lange's typology, which will be applied in the second analysis.
