- Abstract
- Local currencies exist by the thousands all over the world. In Belgium (more specifically Wallonia), a few local currencies have been created over the last decade. In October 2016, a new local currency was launched in Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve. This new currency is slowly growing and spreading itself in Ottignies-LLN and other surrounding towns. The aim of this Master's Thesis is to get an early perspective of what is it like to use the Talent as a business or organisation and how the implementation and the design features of the currency affect that experience. Qualitative interviews were conducted to get a better understanding of the positives and negatives that are associated with using a new local currency as a business or as an organisation. Among other things, the analyses revealed the importance of the network (its size, geographical boundaries, and diversity of users and businesses/organisations) and its users to ensure that a local currency is easier to use for everyone.
