- Abstract
- In a world dominated by connectivity and big data transfer, the need for data compression is higher than ever. With video data accounting for almost 80% of the world’s data consumption, innovative solutions in the video compression sector are a growing necessity. In the scope of the TrustEye project at UCLouvain (A secure high-resolution camera for low-power devices), original ideas to improve the quality-complexity ratio of the image processing procedure are explored. The “Sensor-Aided Block Matching Algorithm” exploits the presence of a motion sensor on the smart camera to improve the motion estimation performances of the inter-frame image processing algorithm. Results and performance comparisons with existing algorithms are discussed as well use cases and limitation of the proposed algorithm.
