- This thesis develops a supply chain model to enhance demand forecasting and inventory management for Lhoist North America’s Alabama Regional Office. Conducted during a six-month internship, the project improves short-term decision-making and reduces operational costs. The study begins with an analysis of current supply chain processes and challenges, followed by a literature review on flexibility, IT in planning, data utilization, and automation. The new model integrates data from SAP and JWS systems and automates tasks using VBA and Power Query. Implemented progressively in the company, the model provides dynamic projections for rail and truck shipments. User feedback confirms its effectiveness in optimizing inventory management and kiln usage, improving decision-making, and reducing costs.
