- The purpose of this Master’s thesis is to analyse the influence that a language stay in Germany can have on the image that students have of German culture and language. To this end, a longitudinal empirical study was carried out on Erasmus students. The latter were invited to complete an online questionnaire concerning their perception of German culture and language before, during and after their stay in Germany. The results obtained were compared not only over time, but also with the results of a control group composed of non-Erasmus students. A first part of the work consists of explaining the different theoretical terms, in particular the difference between a stereotype, an image and a prejudice, as well as clarifying the notion of "language stay". A second chapter reviews current research already conducted on the subject. Then, chapter three presents more precisely the research question and the subquestions it generates. The last three chapters of this thesis are intended to present the study and the extent of the results obtained.
