- Abstract
- This paper studies the impact of the implementation of a stricter legislation in 2012 regarding the acquisition of the Belgian nationality on immigrants’ chances of having a job. To do so, we employed grouped data collected from the CBSS covering the period of 2008 and 2018. We use a Linear Probability model in order to understand, in a first stage, how immigration background influences one’s chances of being employed. Afterwards, we investigate how the legislative reform of 2012 has affected immigrants’ chances of being employed. Finally, we also analyze the impact of the legislative change on the prospects of immigrants having more stable jobs.
